As a lover of dark fantasy films like MirrorMask and Pan's Labyrinth, I've been waiting to see this for a while, and I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. I would have been glad to just coast through this film on it's visuals alone, and it did deliver some eye-catching set pieces and characters along with immersive sound like I was hoping for, but it also went beyond my expectations and had me emotionally engaged, crying by the end. It's hard for me to think of another film that captures the experience of processing thoughts and feelings in your dreams as well as this one does, and as others here have said, it feels like it doesn't just pull you into another world, but another era of media. Watch it to get totally absorbed in the way great fantasy does, for inspiring dark visuals that will stick with you, and for a nice coming of age type story.

Dark fantasy with some striking, surreal visuals. Reminded me of del Toro, but not ripping him off. Plot was a little predictable, but I was pleasantly surprised by the child actor.

Definitely gives off a nostalgic 90s horror vibe! The young lead actress is phenomenal!

It’s a hidden gem. It has a forgotten 90s aesthetics that’s reminiscent of NIN and Tool music video visual style at times. Very creative for its budget and the acting is great for what it is.

Saw this movie before it came out on shudder. To me it’s not a horror movie, it feels like in some way a lesson. To always cherish your love ones and remember the good times. This movie will have a special place in my heart. Sometimes you just need to cry.
