Horror wise, it's less Romero and more Walking Dead, with the apocalyptic setting and living corpses providing primarily just that, setting, for a more intricate story about interpersonal conflicts and attempts to survive. So it's not particularly scary (except for one sequence, which really stands out to me), but it is well written. The directing is phenomenal. The plot and characters are very interesting, and the several layers of subtext are very cleverly woven into the storyline. Zombie movies have always been political analyses of the society that produced them, and this is no different.
