This is another fine film indeed from legend Cronenberg. The acting is superb and it is beautifully shot and edited. It is fierce, violent with a bitter sickly aftertaste. I did although thought that one of the plot twists (involving Nikolai, Mortensen's character) was cliché, predictable and almost wasted his character mystique... it would have been better to NOT include it in the film. I guess it's up to everyone to decide but I have seen this outcome too many times in crime movie to find it palatable. Also, I thought the end was a little too happy for such a dark, visceral movie. It did sound like a sequel was possible but Cronenberg pointed out in interview that the project was not gonna happen, so... I guess I am left a little on my appetite.
Cronenberg will the goods as usual.
Always liked this movie! Finding it on shudder was unexpected but very very welcomed.
pretty good, although middle-tier Cronenberg for me personally.
A very well done mob thriller.
