I wouldn't necessarily consider this an "essential" view. Extremely weak story arc, forgettable characters and weak SFX even for 1982, the sound mix could also use balancing - the music being too loud while the dialogue is too low to hear. The positive for this film is the cinematography. With the tech of the time some of those tight focus shots, pans and tilts are extremely difficult to keep sharp with a 35mm film camera. Kudos.

For the life of me I could not follow along with it, it was all over the place then it picked up out of nowhere and BAM, movies over.

Avoided this for longer than I should have based on some of the negative reviews I read on here. Unless you have an aversion to older films, don't listen to the bad reviews, this movie is great. Compelling lead performance, great cinematography, beautiful score. I was pretty in awe of the entire production. For fans of: Let's Scare Jessica to Death, Full Circle aka The Haunting of Julia, Burnt Offerings, The Changeling. One of my new favourites!
