Directed by Alice Lowe
A pitch black, wryly British comedy from the mind of Alice Lowe, PREVENGE follows Ruth, a pregnant woman on a killing spree that’s as funny as it is vicious. It's her misanthropic unborn baby dictating Ruth's actions, holding society responsible for the absence of a father. The child speaks to Ruth from the womb, coaching her to lure and ultimately kill her unsuspecting victims. Struggling with her conscience, loneliness, and a strange strain of prepartum madness, Ruth must ultimately choose between redemption and destruction at the moment of motherhood. PREVENGE marks the directorial debut from Lowe, who is a true triple threat, writing, directing, and acting in the film during her own real-life pregnancy.
A pregnant woman sets out to get revenge on seven strangers in this British black comedy-slasher.
Cast: Alice Lowe, Gemma Whelan, Kate Dickie, Jo Hartley
I really wasn't sure about it until I saw Alice Lowe had led the whole thing. She's one of the horror greats of today, and this is an absolutely brutal comedy.
Dark and engaging. Well worth a watch. Great central performance with a tight script.
Brilliantly dark comedy horror with plenty of gory moments too. Great characters, great story and Alice Lowe is absolutely perfect in this sort of role.
Outstanding British dark horror from Alice Lowe. The writing/story was great and some top acting throughout. Just enough humour mixed with sadness and grief and then some horror thrown on top.
Great film. Great writing, great performances. A really tight, original horror with some very funny moments.
