Directed by Alice Lowe
A pitch black, wryly British comedy from the mind of Alice Lowe, PREVENGE follows Ruth, a pregnant woman on a killing spree that’s as funny as it is vicious. It's her misanthropic unborn baby dictating Ruth's actions, holding society responsible for the absence of a father. The child speaks to Ruth from the womb, coaching her to lure and ultimately kill her unsuspecting victims. Struggling with her conscience, loneliness, and a strange strain of prepartum madness, Ruth must ultimately choose between redemption and destruction at the moment of motherhood. PREVENGE marks the directorial debut from Lowe, who is a true triple threat, writing, directing, and acting in the film during her own real-life pregnancy.
A pregnant woman sets out to get revenge on seven strangers in this British black comedy-slasher.
Cast: Alice Lowe, Gemma Whelan, Kate Dickie, Jo Hartley
fun. wacky. wierd and incredible from start to finish
Well, if you want to watch a mentally insane women kill people when she's pregnant cuz she thinks the baby is telling her to, then this is for you. If not, avoid. had to take a break in the middle because I got so bored. I like to watch films to the end but this one was the longest, most boring 1.5 hours I've ever experienced. Not sure why it is highly rated. Horror-comedy? didn't laugh once? awful.
very funny and very dark, really enjoyed it
good watch, day dark british humour to the max. arachnophobia warning in a few scenes
Average. I usually really enjoy these kinds of British horror comedies which are slightly off the wall black humour, but I just couldn’t get into this one. It was ok but just missed the mark for my humour.
