Directed by Alice Lowe
A pitch black, wryly British comedy from the mind of Alice Lowe, PREVENGE follows Ruth, a pregnant woman on a killing spree that’s as funny as it is vicious. It's her misanthropic unborn baby dictating Ruth's actions, holding society responsible for the absence of a father. The child speaks to Ruth from the womb, coaching her to lure and ultimately kill her unsuspecting victims. Struggling with her conscience, loneliness, and a strange strain of prepartum madness, Ruth must ultimately choose between redemption and destruction at the moment of motherhood. PREVENGE marks the directorial debut from Lowe, who is a true triple threat, writing, directing, and acting in the film during her own real-life pregnancy.
A pregnant woman sets out to get revenge on seven strangers in this British black comedy-slasher.
Cast: Alice Lowe, Gemma Whelan, Kate Dickie, Jo Hartley
Really darkly funny, unsettling and surprisingly moving. Alice Lowe and ‘Dan’ are brilliant. Beautifully British in its style.
This was really fun. Alice Lowe has the perfect tone across the whole film which leaves it funny and gruesome all in one, a real hoot!
Loved it. Alice Lowe is a real talent.
Delighted to see this on Shudder having spent a couple of years pressuring my friends into seeing it. Alice Lowe of Garth Marenghi's Dark Place wrote and stars in a genuinely fresh horror film. If your jaded and want to see something different from a fresh perspective, treat yourself. Darkly funny, I mean jet black in it's humour and probably more for people of an age when your likely to be having or have had kids. One of the single best lines I've ever heard or read in any comedy. Double withthe film Grace for a night that Durex should sponsor.
good, not very funny. enjoyed the premise. well *executed* haha so funny boyfriend felt very uncomfortable (cringing) throughout.
