Directed by Takashi Miike
RAINY DOG, shot entirely in Taiwan, is about an exiled yakuza (DEAD OR ALIVE's Show Aikawa) who finds himself saddled with a son he never knew he had and a price on his head after the Chinese gang he works for decides to turn on him.
A Japanese assassin stranded in Taiwan must take work from a local crime boss to make ends meet when suddenly a woman from his past delivers a son to him.
Cast: Shô Aikawa, Li Wei Chang, Shih Chang
Great atmosphere-focused crime-drama. Very much a slow-burn, moody type of film. So glad that Shudder has stuff like this in addition to horror!
A beautiful Miike gem, quietly sentimental and violent, good for any yakuza otaku.
I couldn't disagree more with shotdave...
First of all you guys need to pay your respects to the director, Takashi Miike. Without him there would be no Audition, Ichi the Killer, Gozu, The Happiness of the Katakuri's or your precious Visitor Q. If you don't want to see it, don't watch!
First of all you guys must pay your respects to the director, Takashi Miike. Without him there would be no Audition, Ichi the Killer, Gozu, or even the Visitor Q that you mentioned. If you don't wanna see something, then don't watch it! Oh yeah and Happiness of the Katakuri's, which is on Shudder as well. Just shut up and watch!
