Directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky
An armless woman drives her son to kill in Alejandro Jodorowsky's surreal shocker. As a boy, Fenix saw his father cut off his mother's arms, and the resulting trauma sent him to a mental hospital. When mom visits him years later, he escapes, but soon must satisfy her thirst for santa sangre ("holy blood"). Nearly 20 years after he first freaked out filmgoers with the trippy EL TOPO and THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, Jodorowsky returned with this visually stunning film filled with references to classic horror films like THE UNKNOWN, PSYCHO, and EYES WITHOUT A FACE.

A beautiful surreal ride. Unlike anything I have seen before.
Talk about being a mamas boy.
First saw this in a theatre when I was an impressionable youngster and it blew my mind. It had everything I could ask for: a beautiful tormented schizo man-boy pscyho killer, a surreal Fellini-esque circus setting with some ample sex and bloodletting and a bit of Catholic symbolism and mysticism thrown it, Jodorowsky style. Will need revisit this.
Beautiful. A very underrated Jodorowsky film.
