Absolutely amazing slow burn. The details of the ritual weren’t completely concise, still one of the better cinematic portrayals of the esoteric practices. I was excited throughout until the very end. However the special effects could have been better. Still a brilliant and beautiful film.

Absolutely insufferable. Even the terrific acting of Catherine Walker couldn’t save this movie, only sustain it for a bit. This “slow burn” of a movie crescendoed into one of the most laughable visual effects I’ve seen in a while. The music was great, atmosphere was great, sound design great, practical effects pretty decent, but the story was not solid, established “rules” of the movie did not carry through, characters were vague. Honestly, it felt like a last minute rush to finish a script. *SPOILERS!* More creativity should have gone into the design of the dark entities. The first real reveal was actually clever in its subtlety. Many times it’s what you don’t see, what is only hinted at that terrifies, and the ending was mess of last-minute haunted house costume and makeup. But, definitely, worst of all was the lack of direction. I’m pretty disappointed, definitely do NOT recommend. I’ll rate a 2 for what little was done well.

Phenomenal slow burn. The pace seems deliberate as the whole film revolves around a spectacularly hellish process that which was not designed with comfort or entertainment in mind. That said, if you have the patience, and enjoy some deep esoterica, its absolutely worth watching.
