Before the Fire
Directed by Charlie Buhler
As a global pandemic engulfs Los Angeles, rising TV star Ava Boone is forced to flee the mounting chaos and return to her rural hometown. As she struggles to acclimate to a way of life she left behind long ago, her homecoming attracts a dangerous figure from her past- threatening both her and the family that serves as her only sanctuary. Before the Fire is a shockingly timely tale of the strength of the human spirit against seemingly insurmountable odds.

It was okay but I had to many questions at the end. I didn’t give the detail a true movie buff needs.
This isn’t a horror and it’s not the greatest o.
I am mad that this is such a shit movie. It had so much potential. I get the gritty drama it was going for, more people-focused than disease-focused, but it had literally only ONE sick person, then Ava/Amanda got sick. They could have done so much more with it if they'd focused less on setup to the (non) climax and more on what the disease does to people. I get the whole militia thing, but like, that only received a few mentions. I wanna see a remake of this idea where she actually has to survive a Mad Max gang while also dodging plague-bearers, trying to find her boyfriend. Yes, that's been done before, but with the dynamic of not being a prepper and having to make do with what she finds, it could take some interesting turns. This movie wasn't even an action thriller, there were no thrills. A couple jumpscare moments, but nothing. ZERO. No horror.
I was very confused, I don't understand what her relation is to most of the characters. It is also mind bogglingly slow and nothing happens until halfway through. No payoff for anything and it does not deserve to be labeled a horror movie if I don't get scared or even spooked.
Very confusing and I don’t understand the relationships between her and most of the characters. I do not recommend it mostly because of this and also I don’t think of it as much of a horror movie maybe 10 minutes are actually things that you would consider to be a horror movie but it’s mostly just her hanging out with people.
