A slice of American spider filled apple pie. If you watch it you’ll get it.
Look, I know I'm not going to like every Shudder film but I genuinely feel even the ones I don't like are somewhat interesting. Big Ass Spider! is an exception, feeling like an aborted Happy Madison script with D-Grade TV actors (and Ray Wise, who is trying, bless his heart) and inept direction (did the army just teleport after a phone conversation?). I really wish it was a fun, silly movie but instead it feels like a complete wreck.
First off it’s silly in a good way, I would say it’s definitely a gem in how silly it is. It doesn’t take itself too serious which is something I definitely appreciate.
Dorky and stupid fun, really worth the watch if you're looking for a good "bad-but-actually-it's-kinda-great?" movie to lift your spirits. The passion shows in this one 100%, and I've gotta give love to the recurring gags. Definitely want to rewatch this.
Not a spider movie fan, but there's always an exception. This is it. Good watch!
