This was a dull, joyless movie. It's also formatted oddly, displays as a small rectangle with black bars on all four sides.

Well-crafted and involving dark drama set in post-WWII Australia. This film is an empathetic portrayal of a strong willed and imaginative 9-year-old girl who finds herself at odds with the seemingly cruel and capricious rules of adult society. Should appeal to fans of movies like Paperhouse, Curse of the Cat People, and Pan's Labyrinth.

Not really a horror movie (had a very misleading ad campaign on home video), but perfect for fans of Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures.
