Do many reviews call this a psychological thriller. It’s definitely not that. Not a slasher. It’s your standard 90’s thriller with pseudo feminist undertones.

I watched this film because I liked the creation of a tough, hard-cookie female hero concept like Özge, who emerged from the largest minority in Germany, the Turks. And it had received incredibly high ratings from the Shudder audience. Honestly, I can’t say I felt much tension or encountered many horror elements. Most scenes seemed amateurishly shot but also like a lot of money had been poured into making the production quality seem high. Especially in the traffic accident scenes, we see very nice editing and production quality. However, the film doesn’t quite roam the heights of thriller or psychological tension, unfortunately. I also feel the story was unnecessarily dragged out. It got a bit too long because it’s about something we can more or less predict the outcome of. So, you kind of get into the mood of, “Let’s get this over with already” after reaching the midpoint of the film. It seemed a bit stretched to me. As usual with European films, they tend to unnecessarily drag on scenes. But I love the Turks; I love that they’re in the film industry.

Not sure if this is a slasher or a thriller, but at least it’s great.
