Greatest Zombie Film ever made followed by 28 Days/Weeks later.
This often gets compared to the original, but I consider it apples to oranges. Yes, they're both fruit, but they taste very different. See what I did there? The zombies are meaner and faster, and the humans are even bigger assholes, but the biggest assholes are the writers. There are parts of this that feel downright cruel to some characters. That being said, it's a great zombie flick that doesn't ease up very often, and is what I consider Zach Snyder's best work. Army of the Dead tried, but this is it. For those that find this film leaning a bit too dark like myself, check out Shaun of the Dead. You'll probably get more out of it. Still Recommend.
Dear Shudder, please dont remove this or the george romero films. sincerely, your beloved fans
One of the best zombie movies out there. The naysayers are weird. It was an instant classic and holds up today.
Zombie horror is much more Snyder's speed than superheroes. Great kinetic, frantic, bright-blood violence with characters that run a broad-stroke gradient of fun horror-movie personalities. Whether you like the style or not, it's clear effort has been put into this and the film-maker had a plan going in.
