God Told Me To
Directed by Larry Cohen
A cop investigates a string of murders committed by strangers who claim “God” told them to kill. But are the killers actually talking about the heavenly father? Or is someone pulling their strings? If Det. Nicholas (Tony Lo Bianco) really wants to know, he’ll have to descend into a netherworld of deranged faith and confront his own connection to a homicidal messiah with a perverse plan for the soul of mankind. Utterly original and deeply unnerving, Larry Cohen’s critically acclaimed cult classic is regularly cited as one of the greatest horror movies of all time.

What the hell did I just watch? o.o
Richard Lynch in a Larry Cohen film, a must see.
"I got a mangina! You seen my downstairs mix-up. I'm Old Gregg! regpowart" This review was the tipping point upon which I based my decision to watch this masterpiece. totally worth the 91 minutes, and im watching it again tomorrow. I can see how the overt social commentary re: domestic terrorism, hate crime, and religious zealotry could be forgotten or overlooked, its prescience lost in that giant, throbbing mangina that appears intermittently in the second half of the film.
This movie is a mess! It's got some intriguing ideas and some of the individual scenes are well directed but overall this movie feels like it is missing about 25 minutes of connecting material. The actors are decent and trying their best but this is definitely less than the sum of it's parts. Also the ending doesn't really make sense. I feel like a good lawyer could have gotten him off. How could they prove he made the building collapse.
