Six friends get together during lockdown for their weekly zoom call. It's Haley’s turn to organise an activity and instead of a quiz, she’s arranged for a Medium to conduct a séance. Bored and feeling mischievous, Jemma decides to have some fun and invents a story about a boy in her school who hanged himself. However, her prank gives license for a demonic presence to cross over, taking on the guise of the boy in Jemma’s made-up story. The friends begin noticing strange occurrences in their homes as the evil presence begins to make itself known, and they soon realise that they might not survive the night. A SHUDDER ORIGINAL.

Great!! Way better than it has any right to be. Tight, good scares, great suspense, simple but effective story and effects. Lots of “oh don’t do that!” Moments and ominous open doors in the background. The lockdown PTSD was almost as traumatizing as the ghosts.
The feeling of dread hits really well
A good movie where it’s good and it has stuff happen in it.
Whoops. I keep hitting enter. Anyhow, the only real issue I had with it is that they showed the “entity”. If they had left that to the imagination. It would have been closer to perfect. I am a horror buff and it takes a lot to make me look through my fingers. Before it showed “it”, it had me squinting for sure. Normally I hate jump scares, but I didn’t even mind them here.
