Worth a rewatch every holiday season.

The movie was good, but either should have been a comedy or a trippy horror movie where the MC goes back in time. It wasn't very funny and didn't have the same level of weird-horror execution as a movie like "The Final Girls." Otherwise, I enjoyed watching it.

ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS TOTALLY MISS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THIS MOVIE. This is a horror-COMEDY-- Much more emphasis on being funny than being scary. Yeah, their are some jumps here & there, but for the most part this movie is comedy a lampooning both hallmark christmas movies and slasher movies but ticking off box after box of cheesy tropes from both genres. If you like movies like Happy Death Day & Freaky, you'll probably enjoy this movie as well. Personally, I'll revisit it around the holidays, but I don't think I'd watch it in June.

I am SO on board for these slasher-comedy versions of classic movies: Happy Death Day (slasher Groundhog Day), Totally Killer (slasher Back To The Future), and now It's A Wonderful Knife (slasher It's A Wonderful Life – duh)! They're pretty entertaining and I find myself rewatching them despite knowing the twists and turns. Although the main draw of movies like this is how the filmmakers play with slasher tropes within the context of a familiar cinematic story, a bigger draw for me is the characters. As an overall movie, I'd rank It's A Wonderful Knife lower than Totally Killer and Happy Death Day, BUT I absolutely fell in love with Jane Widdop's Winnie and Jess McLeod's Bernie! There are some pretty serious "umm... what??" and "wait, seriously?!!" plot points and a few questionable creative decisions (Justin Long channeling Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka?), but I honestly just went along for the ride because Winnie and Bernie were leading the way.

Yeah, not all of it makes sense, but it’s a fun take on a classic done better than other takes on classics.
