This movie left a VERY bitter taste in my mouth; but by GOD was that taste was worth it!! This movie felt so real. Being black with mental illness created this genuine feeling of unease and dread. I don't have a baby nor am i pregnant, but I could replace Charlotte with me and it would still feel the same. she was shackled with fetters, but they were invisible. To not have control, and being alone with nowhere to go. This is truly horror, no monsters, no ghosts, no demons, no killer. I still am trying to decompress. Joe Marcantonio, you have my thanks.

Didn't really make sense as to why the whole world was in on the lead's ordeal, and why everyone seemed willing to commit crimes that made no sense? It also ended exactly how you would have thought. There was no real development, this is confounded by the fact that she had already figured out so early on what was going on, just to make very haphazard attempts to run. It's also confusing to make so many references to a character that has 0 screen time and beyond saying these two characters are related and that's why you're like this does not a compelling story make. The crows/magpies are also a confusing character device? allusion? Hallucination? I'm not sure as there is no development beyond what you see. Cast is great though, and the acting perspective I enjoyed, feels emotionally attention grabbing, just didn't make sense as a story.

We have all seen this theme before, so I wasn't surprised by anything that happened. I did think that once the baby was born, especially when it was mentioned the baby was going to be born in the house, Charlotte would be no more. As a few of the posts commented, she really didn't fight hard enough to escape. She could have played devil's advocate, and curry favor with Margaret and Thomas. Once Margaret passed, the estate would have been hers and the child. I think I would have been able to stick it out for a few years. Plus, Thomas seemed like a genuinely nice man to have as a friend. I rather liked the movie. Give it a watch!
