"Mama" wasn't exactly scary per say, but the premise is interesting.
Bone lady bad. Ending bad. Child annoying. Fun.
Good cinematography, but very surface level on acting, story and characters. Generic horror movie you'll probably forget immediately after watching.
This is the kind of movie I would have watched back when I worked at a movie theatre, not because I wanted to, but because I could, and then thought "Well that was okay, it didn't waste my time but I'm glad I didn't pay for it". It has its creepy moments and I appreciate any role Javier Botet plays, but it wasn't anything incredible imo. Also, Hollywood needs to stop pretending it knows what punk/alt culture looks like lmao
Without actively trying to be too harsh, I did not like this movie. I saw it when it first came out in theatres on a date with my ex/current best friend, and we both hated it. There's some decent suspenseful moments throughout the film, and I will give the film credit for not exactly doing what I expected it to do, but I can remember everyone in the (mostly empty) theatre laughing during what was supposed to be a genuinely scary moment. If you wanna watch a movie with some suspense and a decent mystery, give it a watch. But if you're the critical type like me and a bad ending and lack-lustre scares can ruin a horror flick for you, I would say definitely pass on this one.
