Maybe the director's cut makes al the difference but I really don't understand the fuss about this one. Yes it's Guillermo del Toro and the special (non-CGI) effects are amazing - but the acting is really bad, the characters are one dimensional and forgettable, the editing is terrible, and overall it's just mediocre at best.
Sadly, this is not the director's cut. It still works for the most part and is definitely del Toro but it could have been so much better if the Weinsteins had kept their grubby paws off of it (and Sorvino apparently).
Somehow I missed this one. It's full-on GdT.
I forgot about this movie.. Love it.. Creepy and gross with the correct amount :)
This felt like a great representation of 90’s over the top monster movies. The acting was not convincing and there was unfortunately the die-to-Save-everyone-else black character trope which always brings the mood down.
