The Japanese know how to capture the essence of a dystopian nihilistic society at the high school level. There are no good guys in this film. The monsters showed the most humanity. I felt sad during most of the film but felt satisfied at the end. "Damn them all to hell."

Confusing, only thing I liked about the movie was the sisters. The main characters were lame.

This movie seems like it was made by someone going through a trauma. If you are looking for a bleak life lesson, you'll find it here. There are no good guys (besides that one girl who has 2 minutes of screen time). The focus of the movie is on what pain does to "innocence" rather than finally seeing the bad guys get theirs so don't hold your breath for the sweet revenge deaths. The evil ones die off-screen and the ones who turned bad bc of other suffer continuously on screen.
