Best movie where a man is telepathically linked to a monkey.
Just watch it!
This is the single greatest movie ever made where a guy bites a monkey to death. Anyone who disputes this fact is a liar.
Fun little watch. Def worth checking out. Although, (without spoiling anything) most of the kills happen off-screen - which is a little unsatisfying considering they had Tom Savini at the helm for the gore & special FX...Although it does have 1 or 2 solid jump scares... With that being said however, this movie works on the same "I am Completely Helpless" vibes that Rob Reiner's "Misery" does. That feeling of absolute powerlessness to do anything to stop the tragedies from occurring all around you. Nice little music score by David Shire (especially the fishing scene, especially at 37:25 mark). Also some early performances by Stanley Tucci & Stephen Root. --- I think the real meaning of this film comes from one line a character says: --- "What if I wasn't civilized anymore? What if I was an animal? Free to follow my instincts? That's what the Devil is Geoff... INSTINCT. Animal Instinct. Lives in us all. Lives by its own set of laws. Laws of the jungle!" --- So what we get here is more or less an exploration of one man's "ID" aka a man's most primal urges -- and how that man struggles to come to terms with those emotions after being betrayed by romantic partners, family members, live-in-caregivers, scientists, and Doctors. Part creature-feature / Part psychological horror / Part revenge flick. We also get some Sam Rami style - Evil Dead-esque, sped-up, hand held shots through the wilderness. Not GAR best obviously - but if you like Romero's work you'll probably dig this. Schadenfreude says: CHECK IT OUT
Maybe my favorite horror movie
