Oddity

Directed by Damian Mc Carthy

When Dani is brutally murdered at the remote country house that she and her husband Ted are renovating, everyone suspects a patient from the local mental health institution, where Ted is a doctor. However, soon after the tragic killing, the suspect is found dead. A year later, Dani’s blind twin sister Darcy, a self-proclaimed psychic and collector of cursed items, pays an unexpected visit to Ted and his new girlfriend, Yana. Convinced that there was more to her sister's murder than people know, Darcy has brought with her the most dangerous items from her cursed collection to help her exact revenge.

A psychic twin investigates the murder of her sister, with the help of an unbelievable cursed object, in this year's celebrated frightener.

Man was this a stunning film. I normally call feature length video movies but this felt like a FILM. Beautiful shots of the English countryside mixed with pure dread and terror of what hides within those shots. I loved that this film gave us characters to root for and characters to… really not root for. It was everything I would want in a classic. Easily earns every skull and possibly a sixth of it was an option.

whole heartedly enjoyed this movie, bit of a slow burn but there was enough happening to keep me enthralled to the bitter & hopeless end.

This film had a spooky atmosphere and some awesome jumpscares. It is most certainly one of the best horror films I have seen this year. I could definitely see this movie becoming a traditional rewatch on every October for me. So yeah. 4½ skulls.
