Puffball: The Devil's Eyeball

Puffball: The Devil's Eyeball

Directed by Nicolas Roeg

When a young architect becomes pregnant, a local witch sets her sights on the baby and becomes determined to do whatever it takes to get it. Acclaimed director Nicolas Roeg, best known to horror fans for his still-shocking 1973 classic DON'T LOOK NOW, took an 11-year absence from filmmaking before returning in 2007 with this haunting thriller, set in a rural community where black magic and ancient rites still run strong. Kelly Reilly (TRUE DETECTIVE), Miranda Richardson (SLEEPY HOLLOW) and the great Donald Sutherland (THE HUNGER GAMES) head up the cast.

A little slow but it adds the the nice folk-horror atmosphere. Donald Sutherland entering in the second act was great. "Break the promise, bad things happen." The soundtrack was terrific, featuring Coil, Nurse with Wound et al. Glad I spent the time with this film.

Pointless story telling with a real lack of plot and really lame visual effects placed in. I am entirely unsure of what the movie was supposed to be about and I also see no point in an actor with the gravitas of Donald Sutherland being involved in this lack luster film. It was a snooze.

very disappointed in this never ending, senseless movie.

waited a long time to find and watch this; sorely disappointed, it had an oddly amateurish feel to it; as a fan of Roeg's work I can't believe he directed this flat, flavorless outing. Sutherland's part was a pointless cameo, maybe he appeared as a favor to the director. I would love to see this story done right. The smattering visual effects that were tossed in were cheap and unnecessary.
