Joko Anwar's biggest misstep was choosing to have this film spoken in English. It was very distracting and simply hurt the performance of the lead actor. The deadpan delivery of every support character was far more brutal than any of the violence
Everyone who said the acting is bad: no. Don't be silly. The writing is kind of bad, but the actors did fine. To everyone who said the plot makes no sense, are you sure? I don't buy any of it for a second, but it was a fun ride, and not a particularly hard one to understand. Just kinda silly.
Confusing
Great concept, poorly executed. That being said, I enjoyed watching this movie.
Funny Games meets an episode of Black Mirror. Great concept, awful execution. Boring, poorly acted and written, and annoying little details like seeing scenes with the still breathing bodies of people that are supposed to be dead. it only gets an extra star because the idea in and of itself is good.
