One of the best horror movies we have seen in a long time. On par with “Them” and “Candyman”. Brilliant.
great movie!
Pity there's several bigots in the reviews. I suspect they didn't bother to watch this. It's a smart, often moving adaptation of the Frankenstein concept brought into a modern, black American context that explores ideas of grief and violence, social, systemic and physical, to absorbing effect. Laya DeLeon Hayes is superb in the lead as genius teen Vicaria and is supported by an equally effective cast, including Chad L. Coleman who some might know from his brilliant turn as Cutty in The Wire. A great movie, thoughful, emotional and entertaining.
