The Brood

The Brood

Directed by David Cronenberg

The Brood is a chillingly twisted masterpiece of visceral intensity, considered by many as one of the scariest and terrifying films of all time. Dr. Hal Raglan experiments with ""Psychoplasmics"", a radical therapy designed to release pent-up emotions in his patients. He keeps his best and brightest patient, ex-wife Nola, in isolation. But as she successfully vents her rage and expels her demons during the sessions a series of brutal murders will unleash a whole new breed of terror!

A dark design from the mind of David Cronenberg, The Brood is a chillingly twisted masterpiece of visceral intensity, considered by many as one of the scariest and terrifying films of all time.

Cast: Oliver Reed, Samantha Eggar, Art Hindle

Kramer vs Kramer, David Cronenberg style (Carveth vs Carveth). This felt very much like a feature-length X-Files episode minus Mulder and Scully (domestic/suburban setting, buried dark secrets, nasty murders, baffling autopsy, terrifying revelation, resolution sequel hook); I bet Chris Carter saw this.

I remember this when it was originally released - for me, a cult classic, along with Scanners, Friday 13th, Halloween, The Fury etc… (originals, not remakes)
