The Brood is a chillingly twisted masterpiece of visceral intensity, considered by many as one of the scariest and terrifying films of all time. Dr. Hal Raglan experiments with ""Psychoplasmics"", a radical therapy designed to release pent-up emotions in his patients. He keeps his best and brightest patient, ex-wife Nola, in isolation. But as she successfully vents her rage and expels her demons during the sessions a series of brutal murders will unleash a whole new breed of terror!
A dark design from the mind of David Cronenberg, The Brood is a chillingly twisted masterpiece of visceral intensity, considered by many as one of the scariest and terrifying films of all time.
Cast: Oliver Reed, Samantha Eggar, Art Hindle
Genuinely off film from David Croneberg. Was he dared to do a pastiche of Don't Look Now or did someone challenge him to try to 'Do a Bergman'? it's not bad, though obviously filmed on a budget of about $5, with Olly reed showing up for some reason to look brooding and menacing. Slow moving and lacks the sleazy, exploitative factor of some of Cronenberg's earlier work and doesn't have much of the body horror / ick factor stuff he's famous for, so not sure who this will appeal to - though if you make it to the final ten minutes you'll get some payback.
one of the absolute best body horror movies ever. Cronenberg perfection.
Arguably a more mainstream picture from Cronenberg, it’s still body horror as always although this focus’s more on motherhood and the creation of life ~ just you know, in a demented way.
That was... interesting.
