A beautifully shot Spanish giallo that features twisted characters, and some gruesome murders, including the murderer in the first scene dressed up like Charles Chaplin, a woman stabbed to death by scissors, and an entire family slaughtered with a scythe.
Not too bad. Good pacing
Not without its flaws, but I absolutely loved it. Jean Seberg was amazing, and I was engrossed by the story. Highly recommended.
Great movie, pretty interesting story even if you can see where it's headed. It's fun to watch it play out.
Shudder really needs to create a giallo collection and let people know what they are; that would cut down on some of the dumb comments in here. This is a giallo film, so it's a thriller with a black-gloved killer motivated by psycho-sexual deviancy. If you're not into that--you only love '80s horror or need a lot of gore or whatever... don't watch: this movie is not for you. But if you love giallo films or 70s Eurotrash movies: this one's got the goods. Lots of plot twists, better than normal acting and cinematography, and one of the most intense home invasion scenes outside of Martyrs. I mean yeah, it's not a great movie by Hollywood standards--there's no CGI or character development--but that's why I watch these: I can't stand to watch another superhero movie or CGI extravaganza that looks and sounds like every other piece of consumer pap Hollywood cranks out ad infinitum. Give me a gonzo 70s movie any time.
