The Sadness

Directed by Rob Jabbaz

svg-play Trailer

When a virus spontaneously mutates, it gives rise to a mind-altering plague. The streets erupt into violence and depravity, as those infected are driven to enact the most cruel and ghastly things they can think of. Murder, torture, rape and mutilation are only the beginning. A young couple is pushed to the limits of sanity as they try to reunite amid the chaos. The age of civility and order is no more. There is only "The Sadness". Note: The Sadness contains graphic and extreme violence/gore, as well as brief strobe effects in the end credits.

In this extreme horror, a young couple try to reunite amid a city ravaged by a plague that turns its victims into deranged, bloodthirsty sadists.

Cast: Regina Lei, Berant Zhu, Tzu-Chiang Wang, Apple Chen, Wei-Hua Lan

Probably the most fucked up movie I’ve ever seen, but I think it accomplished what it set out to do for even the viewers giving it a bad rating. Gore galore and lots of pandemic social commentary!

One of the more intense and visceral zombie horror films I have ever seen. This Taiwanese take makes the zombies even more terrifying than their American and Korean counterparts. I think this movie goes to places that may shock some, but I think it was necessary and frankly, more realistic.

As much as I love tragedy and bleak movies, this was way too much. It was way too gratuitous and relied on shock value to hide that there's barely a plot. I will say though that there are some things to appreciate! Those being the acting, the specials effects and the commentary on viruses. What really makes me torn is that there is a great movie here but I don't think I can give it much higher then a 6/10
