The Visitor

Directed by Giulio Paradisi

svg-play Trailer

Of the many post-EXORCIST horror films centered around evil children, none is more of a must-see than 1979’s THE VISITOR. Katy Collins looks just like any other normal 8-year-old, but appearances can be dangerously deceptive. Turns out, Katy is the incarnation of an ancient evil entity named Sateen who’s out to do some serious damage–unless a mysterious visitor (John Huston) can stop her first! Long out of print, VHS copies of THE VISITOR were passed around between cult-movie fanatics for dozens of years before Drafthouse Films released this stunning uncut restoration. Contains violence and gore.

At first glance, Katy Collins is just like any other normal 8-year-old girl – but appearances can dangerously deceptive. As it turns out, Katy is the Earthly incarnation of an ancient evil by the name of Sateen.

Cast: Mel Ferrer, Glenn Ford, Lance Henriksen, John Huston, Shelley Winters

Wow this is.... bad. I'd been trying to see this for years and finally with Shudder got the chance (yay Shudder!) The negative reviews gave me pause, but the positive reviews kept my hope up. Horror is really subjective and everyone has their defensible-indefensible favorites, but yeesh. This is just terrible. Should have paid more attention to the 1 star reviews. 2 stars because I empathize with liking shitty things. lol And yeah it's not weird at all.

This film is utterly incoherent. I don't care about time and place, social context, '70s filmmaking, blah blah...it was just painful to watch. Not even "so bad it's good," just "so bad."

A nonsensical Omen cash-in (with sci-fi subbed for Christianity) that prizes style, sensation and feverish atmosphere over narrative coherence. Barely hangs together from scene to scene but good fun for fans of bombast and absurdity.

I loved the cult feel of it with the white robs but the high pitch bird screeching, the high pitch screaming, and the high pitch music was bad.
