Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key
Directed by Sergio Martino
An abusive writer is suspected of carrying out a series of murders with a sickle in this essential giallo from Sergio Martino and writer Ernesto Gastaldi (TORSO). Oliviero is lecherous, alcoholic, racist, and violent towards his wife (Anita Strindberg). So when his lovers start turning up dead, all eyes fall on him. But this is no ordinary whodunit-style giallo. Martino and Gastaldi are skilled at subverting audience expectations – and utilize the divine Edwige Fenech and elements from Poe’s “The Black Cat” to twist the screws ever so deliciously tighter and tighter... Contains sexual scenes, violence and gore.

Excellent giallo and definitely one of the better ones. Drags a bit in the middle but otherwise fantastic.

One of the most perfect, beautiful, atmospheric gialli in existence. Also deals with issues like racism/sexism/classism in a way most others do not.
A twist Poe never envisioned. Lugosi & Karloff’s version is not this film. And I’m glad. Plus two of the most naturally beautiful actresses of the early 70’s : Anita Strindberg and Edwige Fenech.
Your Vice Is A Locked Room and Only I Have the Key lacks the stylistic originality of most European exploitation and giallo films.
