Guts & Glory
GUTS & GLORY is a genre-bending competition series where real contestants compete after being dropped into terrifying, fully immersive genre-themed scenarios. Designed by special make up fx icon and filmmaker Greg Nicotero, each challenge tests fear, skill, and smarts-from an outlandish autopsy to demonically possessed contestants. With cinematic production values, hidden cameras, and no idea what's coming next, contestants must survive the night... or be eliminated in ways they'll never see coming.

I didn't even make it halfway through the first episode before I realized that everything was staged. This was a huge letdown.
Poorly executed and very cheesy. I watched to finish it but I don’t recommend it.
Generally agree with most of the other reviews that this was a great first draft, but doesn't really land. The tone of both the story and the competition components never feels right and that's mostly due to the contestants having to pretend that maybe they are in the story. Retool for season two, maybe think about bringing in some horror fans as contestants, rather than the boring competition show archetypes. Work on making the story elements more organic and not rely on your competitors to "act". Also would love for Greg and his team to host a horror makeup competition show. It has been done before, but there's plenty of room for it, especially here at Shudder.
Decent to kill time if you like Reality shows, they could have eased up on they stereotypes extreme soccer mom, whiney scared grown man who cries, the obese bald burnout who literally can't keep his mouth shut, Mr Military, the entitled back stabbing gen z who will stab anyone in the back to win, the pretty boy and the tall athletic black guy. . they wanted to cover all their bases.
A cool idea with the best of intentions that was poorly planned and executed. There was nothing that felt authentic about this. Obviously the "contestants" that were killed were actors that were not there to win the show. on-top of that the acting was pretty terrible. The scripted scenes and deaths were pretty laughable. In one scene Josh literally had a different haircut. The whole thing was shockingly amateur(with the exception of the effects/makeups). In the end the whole thing felt like somebody had an idea and they rushed it to air. This was a first draft at best. Hopefully they tighten it up if a 2nd season actually comes out. I say abandon the entire concept of having any real contestants. Go fully scripted. The producers should check out the show Siberia. That was a decent attempt at a "reality show gone wrong" story.
