The Church
Directed by Michele Soavi
Ravenous demons imprison visitors inside an ancient church in the third entry in the Italian "DEMONS" series. Though Mario Bava's son Lamberto directed the first two films, for this entry, assistant director Michele Soavi (CEMETERY MAN) took over, while Bava and DEMONS 1 and 2 co-writer Dario Argento penned the screenplay. The result is a heart-stopping nightmare featuring an onslaught of gory horrors that will have you steering clear of old churches on your next Italian vacation. Asia Argento stars, while Philip Glass (CANDYMAN) provides the scary score.

I love the style of Michele Soavi from his other films like Cemetery Man but this was ok. Visually it's freaking amazing and beautiful, especially the architecture of the church. I was so freaking entranced and hypnotized by the music score of Philip Glass and Goblin. But this falls a little flat in story, plot holes, execution within the climax, and supernatural elements that should've been in longer such as that makeshift muddy human pillar made out of the people that were slaughtered from the village in the beginning. There was so much potential I expected from this and I really don't mind this one being different when compared to the 1st two Demons, which were literally the same movies but fun. This one had more of a experimental blend in being more grounded/psychological yet still supernatural. There's so much missed opportunities this had. Hate the dubbing, wish it was in it's original Italian language.
Was fun to watch, kind of reminds me of a Clive Barker story. Wish there was more of that weird mud monster at the end.
slow but worth it, also the soundtrack slaps
nothing like the first 2 movies. boring at times. i about fell asleep watching it.
I didn't like it and none of the characters were interesting.
