The Silence
Directed by Baran bo Odar
In Baran bo Odar’s mesmerizing German thriller, a young girl’s brutal murder reopens the case of another girl’s killing 23 years ago. Soon the people involved with that previous rape and murder – the investigator, the victim’s mother and an accomplice to the original crime – watch their worlds crumble as they are drawn deeper into a web of guilt, despair and uncertainty. Who is responsible for the two murders? The killer? Or the people who remained silent? Everything monco45 said. Very good.
Wow once again a bunch of sour puss comments and reviews. First i'd like to say that this is one of the best films ive seen so far on shudder. It's cinematically perfect. The cinematography, music, acting and story are so well done. Now for those people once again whining about subtitles, can you stop with that already. If you don't like reading then dont watch these kinds of movies lol but it's your loss cause foreign films are usually way better than American films, BECAUSE they make you think lol and tend to be more creative. Plus when has reading every negatively affected a person? Exactly. So either be an adult and actually read for once or stop crying about having to read subtitles and go watch movies that will cater to your needs. Now for those people ragging on how this isnt a horror movie, just cause there are no ghost, zombies, monsters or slashers doesnt mean this is not a horror film. This movie is real life horror which brings me to my next point. There were also people complaining about the poor police work in this film, well guess what that's what happens A LOT of the time in real life lol. Real life police work is nothing like a Law & Order episode or most movies that have police investigations. Theyre always exaggerated or unrealistic. Humans make mistakes, we all make mistakes so do the police. Think about the job you have right now, and think about all the employees who are slackers or are not very good at the job. Well that's how it is at every job even at police stations. Just because theyre cops doesnt mean theyre 100% perfect people. And yes this movie is a slow burn kinda film but honestly those tend to be much better stories in the end than fast paced movies. I really thought while i was signing up for this streaming service there would be a bunch of like minded true horror fans and instead half of you are only here for specific kinds of horror films
